Presenting
MouseLab

A new method for processing and extracting complex information from scientific experiments.
Based on the paper by Olivia Le Moëne and Max Larsson at the Division of Neurobiology at Linköping University.
Mouse
Facial expression in animals were already discussed by Darwin (1872), and they were finally included in research thanks to the pioneer work on the Mouse Grimace Scale (2010).
Mouse

MouseLab builds upon this knowledge to offer an innovative method that allows:
  • Precise quantification of facial changes suitable for statistical analysis
  • Automatic, independent labeling of facial points by AI
  • Utilizes a transparent measurement process, no “black box” model
  • Up to a 75% reduction in labor time in comparison to manual labeling
  • Capturing of any emotional state, positive AND negative
  • Requires NO restraining of mice, promoting natural movement and expressions
  • Collect and visualise information from multiple experiments

MouseLab is currently in development with a preliminary release date in Autumn 2024. Click here to keep up to date and get news about futher development.
Profile Detection
Mouse
MouseLab extracts a flow of profile images from the experiment to be processed. These profile images represent a timeline over the video and will contain the mouse's reaction to the stimulus.
Keypoint Detection
Mouse
After the set of profile images have been extracted, the keypoints are identified and located.

Feature Extraction

Features
After the facial points have been identified and validated, the various features are calculated.
Visualization
Mouse
And finally, when the whole experiment has been processed, MouseLab enables efficient visualization of the results.
